Hey TLR – GET TO KNOW YOUR SPONSORS! Part 1

Hey TLR – GET TO KNOW YOUR SPONSORS!  Part 1

I recently had a chance to catch up with Kelli Kindel.  Kelli is the owner of “Rum Cakes by Kelli” who is a proud sponsor of Team Lanterne Rouge this year.  The following is a recap of the interview.

Brian Miller:  What is the history behind Rum Cakes by Kelli?

Kelli:  My best friend Joan and I used to bake a lot of toffee, cookies, caramel corn, and rum cakes and give them away to family.  We always got compliments on our baked goods but people ALWAYS wanted more rum cake.  Over the years Joan and I refined the recipe for the rum cakes and we baked together for 23 years.

Unfortunately in June of 2007 Joan passed away from cancer.  The previous Christmas we had talked about selling cakes – and now here I am.  I do this in her honor and in gratitude for her friendship.

Brian Miller:  I understand you also have another business?

Kelli:  Yes – I own another business called Kelli Kinder events.   This company provides event services.  Web site is www.kellikindelevents.com

This business was started in 1994.  We currently have 4 employees.  We have done big events such as the grand opening of the REI downtown.  We also do non profit events and private parties.

Brian Miller:  Tell me what’s currently happening at Rum Cakes

Kelli:  The Rum Cakes business is picking up momentum.  We just got a couple of really large orders.  One was from a company in Pennsylvania who ordered 218 cakes!  We also just signed up Tony’s Markets here in Denver to carry the cakes.

Brian Miller:  Thanks for your time!  Good luck with both companies.

Hey TLR…Check out www.rumcakesbykelli.com  and www.kellikindelevents.com and please refer any business to Kelli.  Kelli is currently running a special on Rum Cakes through November 20th.  This would be a great gift for Thanksgiving or Christmas!  My boss just ordered 5 cakes for the holidays.
